Great Wonderfest 2019

Great Wonderfest 2019

In July, Owly took Sally, Colin and GIJoe to look around Duxford farm on Areton down, where Great Wonderfest was going to be held.

Behind us is the main field and we'll be 2 fields beyond that.

When the Festival started, we set up a ScoutFest field, at the top of the site.

Some of the team were eager to get started.....

..... some of the team took things easier with a mug of tea!

We had a ScoutFest team of over 50 adults and Scouts of all ages, running over 25 different activities - our largest team by far.

We had the old favourites like Giant Jenga, Connect4 and hoop-la.

Some of our activities involved marshmallows and other edible items ....

... although some involved more strenuous activity.

Our version of a twister-like "get-knotted" game had people tied up in knots .......

...... although, so did the most popular game - rope handcuffs!

In the bottom corner of the site we had the Tomahawks and rubber sucker archery (the county archery team were away at a competition so couldn't come along).

Now there's a sight you don't see every day!

Then again!

We had a walk around the Festival site and were very pleased to see our friend John Cattle had set up some Wight Trash skateboading ramps

6pm and our ace trumpeter Janet blew the Kudu horn to summon Festival-goers to our evening campfire.

Campfire Leader Tim lit the fire ....

.... nice one Tim!

Tim was assisted in the singing by Paul and Alan.

And soon everyone was joining in with the actions.

We packed up after the campfire 'cos everyone had settled down in the main field ready for the headline music acts - including Busted.

The last few crew members assembled for a photocall.

One day done, 2 more to go!
