IW Festival 2018

IW Festival 2018

Isle of Wight Festival time again -this year the ScoutFest site was in its' usual place at the top of the main field, near the main entrance..

V and Alan had to try the Giant Jenga to make sure it worked ok. It had to 'cos I checked that the base was level using the spirit level in my phone!

We thought we'd have a go, but it had to be a team effort. Well, apart from little GI Joe!

Mandy reckoned she could make a taller tower than anyone else.......

Thousands of people streamed past our tent, and lots stopped to try our games and chat about Scouts.

Over the weekend we had over 40 positive enquiries about young people joining Scouts, plus a few adults too!

We used the Giant Connect4 as a climbing tower

Of course we had loads of people try the rope handcuffs......

....... even some of the Guides.

We had another activity - making rope out of bog paper. It's very strong. I helped and got a bit tangled up.

We had some new Wight Rovers team members - Stephen, Zac and mum Michelle.

They made sure that everyone passing saw our team by standing in the middle of the path and playing French Cricket.

We saw a couple of acts, including Jade's favourite singer, Rita Ora.

MaC saw his friends perform, gorgeous singer Lyndsey Bonnick and her brother ......

... amazing guitar player Dan.

Ali, Adam and Graham have formed a Sid & co. fan club!

Ali bought some ice creams.......

.... Adam shared his with Sid, who had even brought his own shovel!

We were in Charities Row with (duh!) all the other charities, including the Festival's favourite charity, the Mountbatten Hospice. The Mountbatten team always sell thousands of sunflowers at the festival and are always dressed up and smiling.

Hatty and Hatty2 found some friends.....

.... and we met a married couple who met in their local Scout Troop!

A happy point on which to end our 2018 Festival story.
