Square Knot

 Square Knot

'Back in my day' said Bob, 'we always used to wear our neckerchiefs tucked into a woggle. Nowadays you young people wear your scarves tied in a square knot.'

'Yes', said Jade, 'and a square knot is also called a friendship knot, so you should always ask a friend to tie your scarf knot for you.'

'Lay one end in as S shape with 3 parallel parts. The para-cord doesn't want to lie down easily, so can you put a weight on it for me please Sid.'

'So now we have to count. We pass the other end under the end of the S. That's "UNDER 1". Then we pass it over the other 2 sections of the S. That's "OVER 2".'

'Then pass the end under all 3 sections of the S. That's "UNDER 3"'.'

'Back over 2 sections of the S, that's "OVER 2".'

'Then under the last 1 section, that's "UNDER 1",'

 'And pull it tight'.

'Someone come and help pull, please'.

'Well done', said Skip. 'A very neat square knot. It's mainly a decorative knot, used, well ...to look pretty.....'
