Join Scouts

Join Scouts

Sid and MaC live on the Isle of Wight, although this blog is not directly part of Isle of Wight Scouts. We'd like to encourage visitors to our blog from across the Island, across the country and even across the world to join the Scouting Movement.

There have been Scout Groups on the Isle of Wight since 1908* and one thing has remained a constant through all that time…………. they're evolving!

* Isle of Wight Scouts' 1st Newport (The Old Guard) Group is the oldest continuously operating Scout Group in the World. Find out more in our Heritage blog page. So Scouts have been having fun and adventure on the Isle of Wight for 115 years (and counting)!

With 1,400 Scouts on the Island, 500,000 in the UK and 50 million worldwide, Scouting is the biggest Youth Movement in the world.

Scouting is an inclusive organisation, believing in bringing people together and cultivating in everyone a sense of belonging to a massive, diverse, worldwide family with a place for everyone to learn and develop, regardless of ethnicity, age, faith, ability or gender.

Every one of the 50 million Scouts is the same – Unique! Every Scout is on a unique Scouting journey – alongside every other Scout. Who cares how many Facebook friends you have....... as a Scout you have 50million Scouting friends from almost every country in the world (except: Andorra, People's Republic of China, Cuba, Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Adult Volunteer

Age 14 to adult : Find out more about Flexible Volunteering.

As a Young Leader or Adult Volunteer, whatever your skill-set, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local town hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread for a group of very hungry eight year olds - no two Scout meetings are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great. Whatever fun and adventure Scouts are having - you get to join in!

The Scout Association provides you with whatever training you need, locally. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life.

How do you rate your day as being a success? As a Scout Leader you could try looking for a Young Person who's had a great day that you helped organise or run.....
